As one of the world’s best-loved and most versatile entertainers, Bette Midler has garnered accolades across all facets of show business. Midler’s expansive body of work has been recognized with four Grammy Awards, two Academy Award nominations, three Emmy Awards, two Tony Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and nine American Comedy Awards. Midler began her legendary career as an entertainer in 1965 in New York, where she developed the trademark act that would make her one of the most renowned talents of her generation.  

Midler recently completed a run on Broadway in one of the most celebrated musicals in theater history as “Dolly Gallagher Levin” in Hello, Dolly!  Produced by Scott Rudin and directed by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, the production opened on April 20, 2017 to rave reviews at the Shubert Theatre. In its third week of preview performances, the show shattered the house record for the highest weekly gross of any show in the history of the Sam S. Shubert Theatre. Bette can currently be seen in the second season of Ryan Murphy’s THE POLITICIAN on Netflix, which premiered June 19. Her film, THE GLORIAS, in which she plays Bella Abzug in the story of feminist icon Gloria Steinem, premiered at Sundance 2020 and will be released by Roadside Attractions on September 25, 2020. Bette will also star in HBO’s COASTAL ELITES, a comedic satire special to release in September 2020. 

In 1995 Midler founded the New York Restoration Project, an open space conservancy and New York City’s largest private land trust. NYRP is dedicated to protecting and preserving community gardens and other green spaces throughout all five boroughs. NYRP owns and manages 52 community gardens, maintains over 80 acres of parkland, and in collaboration with the New York City Parks Department, has planted over 1,000,000 trees in New York City.
